So tonight has been an excellent night at work. Got all extra/non local pages done in a couple hours and the others were done rather quickly after stories got edited and and ready for me. Just sitting here waiting on the lottery numbers, yet again.

The past two weekends have been rather nice. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Mostly hungout with Matt that weekend.

This weekend had dinner with my parents and aunt. But that wasn't the fun part, oh no. I am now the owner, yes, that's right, owner. As in, it's all mine, an 04 Kia Optima. It's spacious and comfy and mine and I love it. It has the weird wooden trim that looks like an old person would have, but other than that's it's quite lovely. I also have saved up money and purchased a new computer since mine is driving me insane and seriously lagging.

This coming weekend I have entirely off, yay!! I shall be travelling to Muncie to spend the weekend with Matt, most likely visiting Daniel, and DEFINITELY visiting the wife (as long as you're on campus dahling).

And now I think I shall do some youtube watching for an hour until the lottery is posted.

So my great aunt Jennie passed away yesterday. All that keeps coming to my mind is that the only time I ever really saw her was once a year, at 4th of july. A whole bunch of family went to her house for a cookout/the parade. I was already starting to think who would be there this year and whatnot since I didn't get to go last year...and now, it's all memories, no future.

Directory is finally almost finished.....woohoo!!!

So, in a shocking move, I've signed up at the Athena Fitness Center here in town. Tomorrow morning I meet with a trainer at 10 AM!! That's right people, I'm actually doing something constructive/healthy.

In other news, as sad as it is, I'm actually liking Hilary Duff's "Dignity" album. It's not disney-ish like her other stuff...more grown up sounding and electro. Kinda Kylie-esqu (not my words, she's actually being compared to Kylie Minogue).

So today I get to meet Karen, the previous designer at Journal Review. I'm so glad she offerec to come help with the directory because I was about to freakout because I have no clue where to beging!! But looking at the disc for last year's I picked up a bit of what I'm doing and it doens't look too hard at all, I just need to have things set and if they aren't done today, I'm doing them as I was told! It's a crazy, giant ass project but it's well worth it and I'm going to have fun doing it dammit!

At least the regular paper doens't have a crapload of extra pages, that'll be a big help...granted we have to do Vitality today as well. GAHHH!!! Why does this section have such a determination to annoy the hell out of me the past 2 months! Ah well, it should look a lot better than last month's, we have much more to go into it than we did last time....it's just quickly becoming my archnemesis of the newspaper world.

Right, so I'm using one of the previous computers from an office and when I use iChat it has me listed as "kristy" because it was her computer.....ignore that as it as clearly me lol....Anyone know how I can fix that?

Well this has been an interesting few days. I finally got to play with my new camera yesterday morning as well as taking my first step into journalism/photo-journalism. Granville Wells had their Wax Museum thing yesterday and I gladly offered to go take photos and use my new camera. Took quite a few shots that I personally wasn't impressed with but Maria said they were good, especially for my first time out. I was able to get 4 or 5 bylines in the paper today, so yay me!! I wrote my own cutlines and everything, with very few mistakes, just some wrong letters in a couple words.

Today I went to get a camera bag and pick up a few things from home and got a call from Amanda. Apparently the guy she wanted to fix me up with is all for it and they have made a bit of a date/meeting tonight at a restaurant in Greenfield....I'm excited and also very nervous, but Amanda seems that it's a good thing, so we'll see how that goes.

Seeing Reno 911: Miami tonight with people from work. Should be interesting as I've only seen the show once or twice.

So, as most of you know by now, I have moved into my own place in Crawfordsville. It's a quaint little house that still needs lots of work. I have no doubt I'll be cleaning the previous tenant's crap for ages...seriously, he never cleaned anything. But I have plans, and the house will look fantastic, this includes the garage.

In other news, work is going well. I'm really loving the job, but i still wish someone would apply for the copy-editor position!! It'd be nice having someone else doing a few pages since I'm doing them all and a few people don't quite get how busy I actually am and insist on saying random things that "I can do when I get a chance"....yea, most of the time that probably won't happen, but it's pretty much a big misunderstanding. Everyone here is awesome and fun to work with. It's fun when someone still doesn't know my age. I apparently shocked both Melissa & Chris when I said I'm only 19....I derive much entertainment from the "What?! You're only 19!" expression.

Today I chose to by myself a new toy. Of course I went through the checkbook to make sure I could afford it first and was delighted that I could. I now own a lovely new camera that is pretty much a step below the Rebel/Digital SLR line of cameras. I am so organizing photo shoots now that I have an awesome camera...and probably need to start investing in accessories such as a tripod at some point in the future.

But in the meantime, I sit here at work waiting on my last two stories and cutlines for the front page and then those pages are done. I've actually pretty much been done and had everything laid out since about 6:30ish, but need words to fill in the holes so I know if I need to pull stuff from elsewhere for an inside page. Perchance I'll start using this "spare" time at work updating more again....I should try more often and not be such a slacker.

Oh!! I almost forgot, we're apparently supposed to be getting an intern, or just someone visiting for awhile, I'm not really sure, but it's apparently someone from Wabash. Yay! Not gonna be the youngest person in here by a matter of 4 years!

LeeAnn, such fond memories are going through my head right now because I am completely ALONE right now!! Here I am, sitting in the newsroom of Journal Review and can't do anything because no one else is here, so none of the remaining stories are ready for me. So I'm contented with just sitting here watching videos on youtube (currently the comic relief charity single, Walk This Way)...

I think Chris may perchance be in the lounge eating his dinner, but I have far too many pages that must get worked on for me to not eat at my desk...ah well, fun time for me.

I'm hoping we get a ton of snow and then maybe tomorrow I can have the day off. I still have so much cleaning to do in the house!! My closet needs a good scrubbing as does a large remainder of the kitchen...I really wish I had tons of money so I could build an extension on the bathroom and Austin's bedroom...but at least it's a great start for life!

Craziness

Well, this has definitely been a crazy week!! Started my job last Tuesday and I'm loving on. Still have a few kinks to work out and some things to remember, but all in all it's going well. I must remember to bring my headphones and copy some cd's into itunes so I don't have to just listen to the clicking of keyboards all night. It's enough to drive one crazy. We just had a big system change and have had some fun littles issues, but were able to work through them all right. We had one page print a few minutes after 11:30, but it's good since the absolute final deadline is midnight-ish.

Other big news is that I may in fact get to move into a house in Crawfordsville. Yes, you read that correctly, a house. Details are still being figured out, but it's a possibility.

So, the interview that I had last Monday went VERY well. In fact, it went so well that I received a call last night and I shall be a layout designer for the Journal Review...and I'm so damn excited for it!! A starting date isn't settled yet, but it will be on Monday.

In other news, this is the final week of school. I've already finished all the stuff in electronic office and don't plan on doing anything else in there, and we probably won't get anything else in R&R as we finished up our Christmas card designs on Friday (most of us) and they'll be checked on Monday. Half-day Friday=much happiness. Tons of people will probably skip, and I'll be getting the remainder of my stuff packed in the van and taking it back home. It's weird that I'm leaving the place I've lived for past year and a half-ish.
